Iā€™m Doing Fine

Posted by Nineteen Eighty-Sixed on

What a week for the Meties. We lost a few more players to the IL. The most brutalĀ of which was Kevin Pillar getting hit in the face by a pitch.Ā But Pillar, much like the Mets, picked himself up and walked off under his own power.Ā Weā€™re finding ways to win despite all the replacement players, shuffling between Syracuse and the big league club.Ā If the Mets can hold onto 1st place through all this adversity, imagine what they can do once our starters start to get healthy again. Ā  DISLOCATED RECAPĀ Hey, how have the Mets been doing? šŸŸ  Sunday 5/16 at Rays...

Going Streaking

Posted by Nineteen Eighty-Sixed on

Weā€™re gettingĀ intoĀ the thick of the season now.Ā We started the week on a high, in the midst of a winning streak, goingĀ undefeated on a 5-game homestand to bring the streak to 7 games. Then we hit Tampa like a brick wall, losing a close one, and a not-so-close one. Letā€™s hope it doesnā€™t start a significant skid. But the good news is weā€™re still above .500 and in first place! And thatā€™s pretty cool. Ā  DISLOCATED RECAPĀ Hey, how have the Mets been doing? šŸŸ  Sunday 5/9 vs Diamondbacks - W 4-2Ā  We got our first series sweep, and a 5-game win...

Letā€™s Get Weird!

Posted by Nineteen Eighty-Sixed on

Happy Motherā€™s Day to all the Mets mamas out there! SpeakingĀ of mothers, the Mets had one mother of a week.Ā Things are getting weird around here. The Mets, particularly Pete Alonso, seemingly created a new ā€œapproach coachā€, named Donnie Stevenson, out of thin air, and the batsĀ beganĀ toĀ heat up just as ā€œDiesel Donnieā€ arrived on the scene.Ā Fans on social media speculated as to who or what Donnie really is. He could be Pete playing dress up as a Kenny Powers type, or it could just be a round ofĀ Don Julio tequila during pre-game meetings. Itā€˜s almost funnier not knowing.Ā  And then suddenly...

Close To Normal

Posted by Nineteen Eighty-Sixed on

Things are starting to feel close to normal again. The crowds are slowly growing back at the ballpark, and even though the Mets had a couple of ill-timed scheduled off days this week, they have been able to play some baseball. And on a personal note, I even got to a ballgame at Citi this week. It feels great!Ā  DISLOCATED RECAPHey, how have the Mets been doing? šŸŸ  Sunday 4/25 vs Nationals - W 4-0Ā Taijuan Walker took the mound and worked around a few hits and walks, with the help of his defense. Particularly a pickoff in the 1st, and...

Hot & Cold

Posted by Nineteen Eighty-Sixed on

The Mets starting rotation, and even most of the bullpen, started off at suchĀ an elite level that it wasĀ making up for the lack of much offensive production. Only Brandon Nimmo seems to be producing consistently. But a lot of that could be chalked up to the scattered start with bad weather and the like. That bad weather luck isĀ gonna change, and in fact theyā€™ve been able to play all their scheduled games this week. The results so far have been inconsistent, butĀ the big bats are gonna get hot sooner or later, and when they do... oh boy. Letā€™s just hope...
